Marjorie studied Fine Art, Sculpture at the Crawford Municipal School of Art. Using a combination of Ceramic and wood, she received the Guinness Peat Aviation Award shortly after graduating. She recently retired from teaching Art with the Kerry Education and Training Board but continues to run pottery workshops in her studio and community settings. Her main focus now is on designing her ceramic sculpture. Although she is a multi-media artist, her favourite medium is clay and she is most skilled with this material.

She was born in Waterford, Studied in Cork and built her studio in Co. Kerry where she loves the ancient architecture, the woods and the seascapes. Her work is inspired by her Irish heritage. ‘When I walk through the forest or into an ancient stone-built structure, I feel a sense of belonging and never wish to leave this island.’ Whilst on her walks, she will often collect local clay for research and experimenting. Some of her work incorporates this found material. Marjorie’s work is held in many private collections worldwide and she has produced public works in the county.
