Ceramic artist Sara Roberts invites you to her scenic coastal studio for a one-day porcelain masterclass, focused on creating nature-inspired wall pieces using slab handbuilding techniques. Participants will use their own photographs or found imagery for inspiration and learn how to work with texture and colour to reflect the Irish landscape. 

What to Expect

Participants will:

  • Learn how to develop imagery into surface design

  • Use slab handbuilding techniques to shape porcelain wall pieces

  • Explore decorative methods with textures, and finishing options

  • Take part in a short walk to view natural sources of inspiration

11:45 – 13:00 Hands-on: Slab-building and design

14:00 – 15:30 Hands-on: Create porcelain wall piece

15:30 – 15:45 Tea/coffee break

15:45 – 16:30 Discussion: Glazing, firing, framing; group Q&A

16:30 – 17:00 Short walk to explore local coastal inspiration
